The Good Friday ✝️ (4/2) and Easter 🎉⛪ (4/4) weekend is the most important event in the Christian calendar 📅 because it commemorates the day when Jesus triumphed over death and sin through his death on the cross and resurrection from the dead. So you’ll want to pay special attention to the events happening this week! 🎇📢‼️
Passion Week describes the entire week before Easter, starting on the previous Sunday (Palm Sunday 🌴), through Good Friday, and ending on Easter Sunday. The name, coming from the Latin word passio (meaning “suffering”) refers to the events in Jesus’ life as he prepared himself for the suffering and death he would experience on the cross in order to obtain salvation for people. Though Jesus’ death was a tragedy, it is also the hope for all people on earth, because on Easter Sunday Jesus rose from the dead and showed that he has final authority over death and sin!
This year, we’ll spend each day of Passion Week exploring the lives of different characters who appear in the Passion Week story, including: the Pharisees, Pontius Pilate, Judas Iscariot, and the Apostle Peter. Each day’s video will be streamed starting every hour from 8 AM PDT, so feel free to watch it at any time throughout the day. You can find the Passion Week Series here: gp.online.church.
We've also created an online immersive experience called The Passion Experience. In about 30 minutes, The Passion Experience will take you through the events and characters in the story surrounding Jesus' death. It'll make you think about your life differently than you have before. This year, we’ve translated the entire experience into multiple languages - Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, and Spanish - so you might even be able to hear the narration in your native tongue! You can find the Passion Experience at https://www.passionexperience.org/.
